We experienced a Blast from the Past last Friday night, I traded in my daily grind for a trip down memory lane at the Memories Car Club Car Show. Held at Faith Church in St. Louis, Missouri, it was a nostalgic wonderland that left me grinning like a kid in a candy store.

A Spectacular Atmosphere

The atmosphere was pure Americana, a delightful blend of chrome, leather, and laughter. Food trucks were dishing out everything from greasy goodness to refreshing treats, and the aroma of barbecue filled the air. The drink selection was solid, but let’s be honest, the real refreshment came from ogling those classic rides.

To keep the little ones entertained, there was a bouncy house that resembled a spaceship – a brilliant touch! Kids were bouncing off the walls with joy while their parents drooled over the cars. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Let’s talk cars…

Now, let’s talk about the cars. Oh, the cars! It was like a time machine had malfunctioned and spewed out a collection of automotive masterpieces. There were restrictions, of course. Only cars from 1979 or earlier could qualify. But trust me, that was more than enough to satisfy any car enthusiast.

Pontiac was out in full force. Trans Ams, GTOs, Grand Prix, Lemans, and Catalinas were everywhere. I mean, who doesn’t love a classic Trans Am? And those GTOs? Pure muscle. I could feel my inner gearhead doing a happy dance.

Chevrolet had a strong showing too. Corvettes of every era were parked together in a dazzling display. It was like a Corvette convention! Chevelles, both big and small block, were there to impress, and I even spotted a Corvair. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Unsafe at any speed!” But there’s something undeniably charming about those quirky little cars.

And let’s not forget the Chevy vans. One in particular caught my eye with its shag carpet interior. Talk about a time capsule! The Monte Carlos were also looking sharp, a classic blend of style and performance.

Ford Fans

Ford fans were in heaven. A stunning Shelby Mustang was the undisputed star, but the other Mustangs were no slouches either. A Gran Torino in pristine condition was another highlight. I half-expected Starsky and Hutch to jump out and start chasing bad guys.

Mopar enthusiasts were equally thrilled. Challengers, Chargers, and even a Road Runner were on display. The sound of those big-block V8s echoed through the parking lot, sending shivers of excitement down my spine.

Underdogs

AMC, the underdog of the automotive world, had a surprising presence. I spotted a Javelin that looked like it had just escaped from a time warp. It was a rare and truly unique sight.

Beyond the cars…

Beyond the cars, the real stars of the show were the people. Everyone was there to enjoy themselves, share stories, and appreciate the automotive artistry. It was a refreshing escape from the chaos of everyday life. No politics, no drama, just good old-fashioned fun.

As the sun began to set, casting long shadows over the classic cars, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia. It was like stepping back in time to a simpler era. The Memories Car Club Car Show was more than just a car show; it was a celebration of automotive history, a gathering of like-minded enthusiasts, and a reminder of what truly matters in life: good friends, great cars, and unforgettable memories.

If you’re a car lover, I highly recommend checking out this event the first Friday of every month from April until October.  You won’t be disappointed.
